Google looks to beat Microsoft to the OS consolidation punch written updates:-

years, basically, that Ms organized to shift its Ms windows Cellphone group under its Ms windows group with former Ms windows Primary executive Steven Sinofsky as the go of both products. Cut to April 2013: Sinofsky is no longer with Ms and Ms windows Cellphone still rests in the Enjoyment & Devices department.

As of today, April 13, however, it looks like Google is going down that same foreshadowed path, with its Android os chief Andrew Rubin passing the reins to the go of the Firefox OS and applications department, Sundar Pichai. The anticipations is Android os and Firefox will become one. (ChromeDroid? AndroChrome?)

Many have considered when/whether Ms eventually do the same. I just got yet another tip just a few days ago that the Ms windows Cellphone group is in process of moving under Ms windows customer. I'm still not sure whether I believe it or not.

Microsoft's Ms windows customer group already contains "Windows services," a k a applications like Perspective.com, Gmail.com and SkyDrive. Neither Ms windows Cellphone nor Ms windows has its own "president" presently.

In some ways, consolidating Ms windows customer and Ms windows Cellphone would appear sensible -- especially given Windows perform to further unite the growth systems and app designs of Ms windows and Ms windows Cellphone with the Blue produces. The huge plan is to allow designers to write once and run on any edition of Ms windows.

But one also could claim that each group has enough on its own dish, especially given the current force inside Ms to speed up operating-system distribution speed.

Would a major reorg, like the one that would result if Cellphone was shifted under Ms windows, risk postponing the arriving launch of either product? In the past (up to and such as Ms windows 8), Ms has recommended to allow groups to complete their growth perform before instituting any kinds of capturing reorgs or cleaning.

Maybe it's just a matter of your efforts and energy and effort until Ms combines the Ms windows and Ms windows Cellphone groups. I know there'd be at least one person who would happy if that were to happen in the arriving months....

What's your take? Should Ms shift (and merge) Ms windows Cellphone and Windows? Why/why not?
